Roya Carreras trained at the Alvin Ailey School in NYC from 2005-2007 before attending Riverside City College and then completing her BA in Dance at UC Irvine in 2011. She apprenticed with Lux Boreal Danza Contemporanea and danced as a guest artist with Malashock Dance in San Diego. She has also performed with California Riverside Ballet, taught modern technique at Pasadena Dance Theater and ballet at private studios. She has choreographed for and performed in several short dance films directed by Phillip Lopez, and recently attended Spring Board Danse Montreal where she worked with Danielle Russo of The Danielle Russo Dance Company and Gustavo Ramirez Sanso, artistic director of Luna Negra Dance theater. Ms. Carreras is currently an apprentice for Body Traffic, Los Angeles and this is her second year as a guest artist with Intersect Dance Theatre.
Megan Fowler-Hurst began her dance habit at the early age of five. She has been involved with the Riverside City College Dance Department since 2008 and is currently pursuing her BA in Dance. In 2011 she had the opportunity to perform with Lux Boreal Danza Contemporanea and share her work at RCC’s student concert, Celebrate Dance. Megan was chosen by the RCC faculty to show her piece, entitled ‘You’, at the American College Dance Festival 2012 where her piece was selected to be shown at the Gala. This summer Megan collaborated with her mentor and RCC Dance Department chair, Mark Haines, on a music video, directed by Bridget Palardy, in which she co-choreographed and was a featured dancer. Mrs. Fowler-Hurst performed in Trolley Dances Riverside 2012. She has trained with Sue Roginski, Stephanie Gilliland, Sofia Carreras, Holly Johnston and Julie Freeman. She continues to share work and perform locally and throughout Southern California.
